The Kitchen Witch’s Story

Our journey began with a simple need for products that actually work and deliver on their promises. Fourteen years ago, my wife, Mellow, had rotator cuff surgery, and as anyone who has dealt with a major injury knows, those old aches often circle back. When they did, it was followed by a grueling year of ankle pain after another surgery that left her searching for a relief that store-bought options simply couldn't provide. We found that those products didn't work—they were often irritating to the skin or carried scents that were far too heavy for daily use.

I knew I could do better. I turned to my books and my herbs to craft a remedy that provided real results without the drawbacks of mass-market products. I spent a year testing and refining my formulas with our family, using their honest feedback to address the wide range of ailments that hit us all—from the injuries of being "young and dumb," to the physical toll of hard work, to the realities of growing old ungracefully. Whether it was bad backs, bad knees, messed-up shoulders, or arthritic hands, the results spoke for themselves. I eventually perfected a high-potency infusion of Arnica, Ginger, White Willow Bark, Comfrey, Rosemary, and Olive Oil.

SanaSana: The Spirit of the Frog

We named this signature remedy SanaSana after the traditional Spanish healing rhyme: “Sana, sana, colita de rana, si no sanas hoy, sanarás mañana.” (Heal, heal, little frog’s tail; if you don’t heal today, you’ll heal tomorrow.)

In our house, it’s a shorthand for love. Whenever one of us is hurt, we tend to the wound and lovingly say "Frog Butt" as an inside joke and a promise that things will get better. That spirit of tending to one another is in every bottle. This oil became our lifeline; it carried Mellow through that difficult year of recovery and finally brought me relief from my own struggle with sciatica and scoliosis.

From Remedy to Ritual

I soon realized that how we treat our bodies every day is just as important as how we manage an ache.

After seeing what the herbs could do for our injuries, I looked at the after-shower oils I was using. I found that many were either too heavy to absorb, caused my skin to itch, or failed to provide lasting moisture. I took that same botanical approach and created our Ember Glow body oil to provide deep hydration that actually sinks into the skin. By prioritizing the quality of the oils over heavy synthetic fragrances, my skin is the softest it's ever been.
